ULTRA dryers utilise vacuum technology as the primary method of drying, rather than relying on air dew point. By creating a vacuum, the boiling temperature of water is reduced to 133°F (56°C), which generates a temperature and pressure differential that rapidly releases moisture from the material. This innovative approach allows Polycarbonate to be dried from a cold start in just 30-40 minutes, compared to the three hours required by traditional desiccant dryers.
Maguire’s range of gravimetric blenders enables processors to optimise the use of natural materials and precisely blend and mix them with in-house regrinds, recycled materials, and new technical materials. This capability enhances product design and improves physical and mechanical properties.
For over 20 years, Maguire has been at the forefront of pioneering ULTRA dryers for the plastics industry. The primary benefit of ULTRA dryers is their status as the first in their class of ultra-low energy dryers, achieving up to 90% energy savings compared to conventional drying systems.
